    The ABCA holds that it is an error of law not to give notice to the media of an application to restrict access or publication, and it is the application judge’s responsibility to ensure that notice to the media is given.


October 31, 2018   R v MGM 2018 ABPC 256
    In this ABPC decision, the judge denied a youth’s request to exclude the public on a s. 517 bail hearing.


October 25, 2018   Doe v Baker 2018 ONSC 6240
    The ONSC dismissed an application from a police officer for an anonymity order or publication ban at a Coroner's inquest into the death of a man.


August 30, 2018   Able Translations Ltd v Express International Translations Inc 2018 ONCA 690
    The ONCA upheld the lower court decision under s. 137.1 of the CJA, dismissing the appeal and refusing leave to appeal costs.


August 30, 2018   Armstrong v Corus Entertainment Inc 2018 ONCA 689
    The ONCA overturned the lower court decision under s. 137.1 of the CJA, allowed the appeal, and dismissed the action against all of the appellants.


August 30, 2018   Veneruzzo v Storey 2018 ONCA 688
    The ONCA upheld the lower court decision under s. 137.1 of the CJA and dismissed the appeal, granted leave to appeal costs, and dismissed that appeal.
