The 2008 Ad IDEM/Canadian Media Lawyers Association Conference is now confirmed to take place on November 7 and 8, 2008 at the Fairmont Chateau Laurier in Ottawa. An exciting agenda is being planned by the Conference Committee chaired by Rick Dearden, and we expect to have interesting contacts with people in the federal government and, hopefully, the Supreme Court - taking advantage of our first time in Ottawa. And there will also be a great dinner at the Metropolitan Grill. Book your rooms now - make a weekend of it. Call the Chateau and refer to Ad IDEM/Canadian Media Lawyers Association for a special room rate as low as $180 per night. At our most recent meeting in Toronto, on November 2 and 3, 2007, at the Intercontinental Yorkville Hotel, we hosted over 100 members, had a splendid dinner at the Park Hyatt, and had a full Agenda.

Our 2006 conference was held in Montreal on November 17 and 18. The conference was held at Maison Radio-Canada. It was a success... well attended, with excellent content overall. Ask anyone who was there. (pictures are not available... though the Agenda is)

Ad IDEM's 2005 National Media Law conference was held on November 11 and 12 in the World Trade and Convention Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The conference hotel was the Prince George Hotel. Pictures were taken at the meeting, but not at the dinner at Salty's (on the water), or in the Economy Shoe Shop or the Lower Deck, where participants did spend considerable time...

Ad IDEM and MLRC hosted a cross-border media law conference called Storms Across the Border in Toronto on May 12 and 13, 2005. It was sold out. Over 60 attendees from Canada, the U.S. and Scotland explored our differences and similarities with a view to clearing up misconceptions and seeding new ones to clear up the next time we get together. The panels were well received.

Ad IDEM members and associate members convene annually in November.  The next conference will be held in Halifax, Nova Scotia on November 11, and 12, 2005. The 2006 conference will be held in Montreal.

The 10th annual conference was held on November 19-20, 2004 in Convocation Hall at Osgoode Hall, Toronto, Ontario. The agenda for the conference was full and exciting. See our Agenda for 2004. Conference registrants stayed at Toronto's Hotel Le Germain.

The 2003 annual conference was held on November 21 and 22 in Montreal, Quebec. Our host venue was Maison Radio-Canada, and the conference hotel was the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth. Our fees were modest. Too modest to reproduce here.

The agenda was full. Special guest speakers included the Chief Justice of Quebec, Michel Robert, and Chip Babcock, noted U.S. media attorney from the once sovereign state of Texas.

Our 2002 annual conference was held on November 15 and 16 in Toronto, Ontario. The conference was held at the Osgoode Professional Development Centre, the downtown location of York University's Osgoode Hall Law School. The conference facility included a state of the art teleconference centre, which we used to link up speakers in England. See our full Schedule for 2002.
